Research Findings
The brewery grew quickly and the original web experience was quickly rendered inadequate for the users' needs. Through direct feedback and in-person interviews, we discovered that the new website had a few priority features to focus on.
Mobile Friendly
Majority of users were attempting to visit the old website on mobile devices only to be greeted with a desktop website and out of date information due to the diffuclty of making updates.
Beer Finder
At the time, the brewery was constantly releasing new seasonal products and gaining new fans. They needed a way to find up to date retailer information based on their location.
Taproom & Tour Info
The brewery quickly gained traction as a tourist spot, so accurate and easily accessible info for its taproom and tour tickets was a must.
Brand-forward Approach
Deep Ellum Brewing has a very strong brand inspired by the history and aesthetic of its namesake neighboorhood. It would have been a disservice to build a website around a template. We were able to bring in the bold typographic and grunge elements without sacrificing user experience and familiarity of modern websites.
